I know dell used to use a propriatery pin layout on the 20/24 pin connecter for their mobo. Is this still the case? I didn't think so, but want some conformation. One of my servers at work had its powersupply fail, and we are having a lot of trouble with dell getting a replacment. Was wondering if i could just buy a standard one and slap it in. Server is an SC430 with a 305W supply in it.

tnks!

I think Dell has pretty much gone to using standard stuff these days. This link shows a 24 pin PSU header, and a 4 pin. Looks pretty standard to me. Can you crack the case and check before you order?

Good link Melan. Most of those are standard ATX PSU's, but it might use a micro ATX, which I did not think of.

Thanks guys,

I cracked open the dead supply and confirmed that the pinout was normal.

Then i got a PSU from the local and the computer is up and running again.
