View Full Version : Is pump failure a realistic concern?

I mean, does this happen often enough to worry about? Would I be insane to leave a watercooled system running for say, a week, without checking on it?

I'm not running water yet, but just want to know all the facts before I dive in.

Thanks in advance...

Pumps are perfectly reliable. I would worry *less* than I would about a normal fan failing.

Pumps are usually designed to run for a few years going 24/7. You don't really need to worry about it. If you are concerned then just get motherboard monitor and a program that shuts your computer down at a certain temp.

I heard roomers of some guys Maxi-Jet running 24/7 for 7 years without problems. As long as you get a mag drive style pump you should be fine. Bilge pumps on the other hand don't last nearly as long.

I do actually already have MBM for my aircooling setup, but never had to test the max temp shutoff feature. :)

cool about the pumps, It looks like water cooling for me!
