How do you install win2k from fresh?
I just formatted and now i'm stuck. this is my first time trying to install WIN2K alone.
:(
If you have a bootable CD just make sure your BIOS is set to boot to CD and then put your CD in and restart.
The CD will autorun and installation will begin.
If you don't have a bootable CD you'll need to create the 4 setup disks that are in the BOOTDISK directory on that CD. You can also download the bootdisk images from BootDisk.com (www.bootdisk.com).

thanks for the quick reply Jon
I just tried making the CD drive boot first and I got this error. So, i guess I dont have a bootable CD.
How do I create 4 boot floppy disks from the CD?
You can do it two ways. If you have a PC that's running Windows (as I suspect you do since you're posting) put the CD in and explore the contents.
Go to the BOOTDISK directory. There, you wil find two programs...MAKEBT32.EXE and MAKEBOOT.EXE. If in Windows you want to run the MAKEBT32.EXE file. It will guide you through the creation of the 4 boot diskettes, so get 4 floppies ready.
Otherwise, you will need to boot up the new install PC with a DOS boot disk, put the CD in and browse to the BOOTDISK directory, and run the MAKEBOOT.EXE from DOS command line.
Once your boot disks are created, put in disk 1 and start up the PC. You'll be on your way! Don't forget to put the CD back in once you start your installation so it can copy the files it needs.

mannn
I got a problem. When I first started booting w/ the 1st floppy, I got this error screen saying:
File \ntkmlmp.exe could not be loaded
Error code 7
Hmmm...dunno now.
I think that was the same screen i got when i first booted w/ the CD.
ok...i'm gonna try it from online from the website you gave me....i dont know which to click onto.
Sounds like your disk may be corrupted then.
If you're overclocked go back to stock and try again. More than likely one of those two is your problem.
Go with Jon as running at overclocked speeds may corrupt the files being copied.
Make sure the disks are formated and have no bad sectors.
When making the bootdisk make sure you don't run anything else just run it-stand alone, close everything.

thanks guy
I have closed all the programs when I was creating the Boot floppies. That wasnt it. This 3rd computer I'm working on is the problem.
Here is what I'm working on.
A7M266 BIOS 1005
AMD XP 1700
Crucials 2 x 256MB PC2100
ASUS GeForce GTS 32MB DDR
Everytime I go into the BIOS and increase the frequency to 133Mhz from 100Mhz it gives me problems w/ that error code before.
OK..I KNOW that the memory isnt the problem before I have a total of 4 identical sticks of Crucials here and did lots of swapping.
hmmmm...i'm thinking i got a bad board. What I've done was set the frequency at 100Mhz to get ahead.
I think I got a bad board or something.....I just got them today too.
