View Full Version : 2 video cards
Can put two video cards in my computer so that I could get duel montors? And how would I make sure my AGP card would be the primary?

To my knowledge it's not possible to use two different cards for dual support... I think you have to get a card with two vid outs that supports dual monitors... You could however switch between the two. And to make the agp the primary I think you just select agp in the bios... and select that card as primary in the drivers...;)
yes u can, here is just a site for doing it with win98, depends on your OS how u do it, but is doable:

you can absolutly do it
i am doing it now
agp i think defaluts to primary display
i hear in theory you can have up to 9 monitors on one computer
its really neat but some times it f's around with some games becuase the mouse wanders on to the second monitor .
so i just disable the second monitor before i play a game but for web surfing and other stuff it kicks ass.

Always learn something new around here!
I ran with a Voodoo3 2000 AGP, and a Diamond Viper 330 PCI, just to see the dual monitor thingy. It was neat and all, but not for me. I prefer separate systems sharing a drive/ folder, with 3 different keyboards, and monitors. Maybe i couldn't get used to dragging stuff from one monitor to the other , and still think of it as the same desktop. Who knows? Just not for me.

Yes I ran it on my old Jetway 531CF motherboard - (it had the SiS530 chipset) - my TNT2 M64 PCI was primary monitor and the SiS530 was secondary - it was not brilliant but yes very handy - e.g. have a tutorial on one screen and your program (like C++) on the other - no more annoying ALT+TAB mwaaa!

if you really want to try it out i would just go down to compusa or somewhere and buy the cheapest pci video card they have
i got one for 40 bucks it has 8mb of memory and really pretty crapy
but all i use it for is to put winamp and the tools from adobe photo shop and some times excel graphs and other stuff.
then the main screen is my dvd's and games and movies and stuff.

*thinks* do I remember hearing that Quake3 can use 2 monitors? Or is this just my mind playing tricks on me again..
I guess it can be done with Grand Prix Legends, pretty interesting...
Found it at Gran Turismo by the Numbers (http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum31/HTML/000204.html)
If the pic doesn't show up, scroll a ways down from the link above, pretty sweet 3 monitor setup
