Anyone have pointers for me?

Ok so i recieved a call from a job I applied for a while back. Well the guy wants me to come fix his system because he moved and now he doesnt know how everything goes. Well its a Win2k3 system with 5 XP Pro computers and he says there not talking amongst themselves. So i was wondering if anyone had some pointers for me or maybe a checklist on things i should check out first. Ive worked on 2K3 systems in the past but not enough to know how everything works. I am no network guru by any means nor a 2k3 pro but some general things I would check first:

1. Check the LAN connections are working/proper drivers.
2. Check that the cables are still in working order.
3. Then get into the network settings, most obvious one being that they are in the same workgroup.

That's a start but my limited networking knowledge is petering out. hopefully someone else can give you a little more detailed info.

if its a 2003 domain you may be restricted to permissions make sure if its using AD to make sure the users are logging in as themselvs as well as on the domain.

are they using maped drives? can they access them?

and most importantly, can they ping the server? is it a static IP? more importantly for your sanity you should keep it static.
