I notice when I first boot up windows my resources start at about 87% free. But when I stop using my computer for some hours and come back, my free system resources shrink to about 77% How could this be if no other programs are running except the ones that booted with windows start-up?

Does this have to do with the fact that my computer happens to be the server for my home network? ...and if so, even if I am not physically at my desk using my computer, others on my LAN who use the internet connection through my system use up my system resources?

What OS are you using? if its a 9X then its your memory leaking wich is quite normal [OS's fault.] However 87% is not that good, i would go into msconfig and cleanup your startup menu. I think i start up at 94% and you can too.

Win 98 is common for doing that.

It has bad memory management.

I don't think theres anyway to prevent this but move to NT Kernal.
