I had to repair the amp myself, one channel did not work at all. Unfortunately I also had to swap the original pre-amp tubes with Chinese ones because I cant afford the german ones.

The tube amp is beautiful! I bet it's glorious in the dark.
What kind of music do you mix? Any techno?

The original playstations were excellent cd players but one model stood out. That model is the first playstation made with rca ports on the back of it, the serial numbers for these models are SCPH-1001 (US), SCPH-1002(EUROPE), and SCPH-1003 (Japan). It rivals high end cd players for quality.

Oddly enough you do not use the rca out with out modification because it goes through the internal opamp which is not too good, it is better to use the a/v multi out.
How to modify it to its best:

The PS1 as a CD player is not that great compared to a decent modern player, and definitely comes nowhere near rivaling high end CD players. Not even close. Stereophile did a couple writeups on them this year even, horrible noise and distortion levels.
They might beat a $20 Walmart special, but any real dedicated transport is gonna beat the PS1 hands down.
