i just got a 250gb hard drive install put vista on it... checked my local disc and it says i only have a 127 gigs total wondering how to fix it maybe there is another partition that i didnt see when formatting

A lot of times, there are legacy jumpers on the hard drives for systems with 32gb, and 137gb size limits. Check the drive, and make sure teh 137gb jumper isn't set.
Alternatively, how old is your hardware? Maybe it IS legacy.

Yeh. Post full system specs. Also, vista should detect large capacity hard drives automatically, unlike Win2k and XP, where you had to have updates.

If it is a PATA drive and your controller is ATA100 or later it may be too old to see more than 137GB. If you are running Windows 2000 with an old service pack you may not have the appropriate driver.
