Hello everyone. I am still a noob at building, OCing and all that stuff so I really need some help.

Since I am building a new PC now I figure I should just get a P45 chipset because they just came out. I do not plan on running two video cards so I am thinking of either getting

ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45

or

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P45

What are your opinions on these boards if I want to do minor overclocking with an E8400 and run one video card? I am just a little weary because the P45 chip just came out and I really want something stable and solid. There aren't that many reviews up yet about them.

Also a question about RAM.

Would this DDR2 1000 be okay with these boards? How bad would DDR2 800 ram be? All I really want to do with the E8400 is maybe get it to like 3.4ghz?

Thanks in advance!

I would go with the ASUS P5Q, I am going to get one of the P5Q Pro's fairly soon, they look like very good boards. That ram will be fine. You could probably get away with some PC2-6400 which OC nicely to 1000 which will give you a max fsb of 500. If you want to go over 500 fsb I would get the ram you linked to. 3.4ghz will be easy, especially with the P45.
