View Full Version : good cheap case for around $80US?
I'm yearning for a new case. The current one is somewhat mediocre if I mod it (which I will). I'm looking for a plain old very boxed shape (I mean it) case with 4 5.25" bays, no more, no less. I'd also like one that is deep enough so I can later on rip a hole at the top for atleast an 80mm exhaust case fan. I'm not really sure what to turn to. I'm really picky about the physical dimensions. I also want one that is white, and only white.
I've checked out the In win, Landmark, and A-top cases (I own an a-top) but what are your recommendations? I also plan to run alot of fans inside so I'm not sure if I'm asking too much.
Would a 20 inch + tower be plausible for LAN parties? I really don't think so.
Thanks

antec sx1200 is a full tower - 6-5.25 bays, and it comes with two 80mm fans....$59 from www.emscomputing.com but you can fit anything you could ever want in this case....i highly recommend it
I don't have a specific case recommendation, but a general one. I was looking around for a LAN party case too and I have been leaning towards small double width server cases. The extra width gives you a lot more space for air circulation, don't need those 50' cables (I have a real tall case right now :D ) and they are lighter than full tower cases. Also plenty of room for water cooling equipment inside the case.
Sorry that I can't get specific, but that's because I haven't really decided myslef and am still comparing. But pricewatch is a good starting point.
I bought an Antec SX-840 case without PSU, from PCHertz.com for $49.00. What a solid design and lots of room for fans. I highly recommend it.

Your best bet is to check on eBay! the sellers there have some pretty good, cheap cases. i saw some ones with 4 5.25 bays for about 30 dollars. they arent the best cases for moding, but they are cheap! Good Luck!
