Pentium D vs Core2

From what I've seen, core2 is about twice as fast per clock cycle.

I'd say a 1.6ghz would match it.

I don't think I understand the question... Pentium D is nowhere near ANY C2D.

Especially when you consider heat output, efficiency and overclockability.

P4 is not even worth considering at this point. Avoid if you can ;)

I have a SL9QQ in my main rig. It'll do close to 5ghz on air on an Asus i955X board, but I run it at 266 x17 = 4.5ghz normally.

IMHO SL9QQ is the best Netburst chip ever made when you take heat, price, and overclockability into consideration.

But yes. Sadly they are outclassed by the C2Ds.

A P4 940 D @3.2ghz makes about 800 ppd SMP folding.

A core 2 duo E6600 @3.2ghz makes about 1600 ppd.

So almost double the points with significantly less heat. Still the newer P4's are powerful dual core CPUs.
