i'm having a problem here. i've read on multiple occasions that disabling acpi in xp pro will substantially raise my highpoint raid controller's performance. the only problem is that when i disable acpi, i have no option under "power options" for apm. that means that when i try shutting down, i get the "it is now safe to shut down this p.o.s. OS" screen :D any ideas on how i lost apm, how to get it back, or what new os to get?? [kidding..] tia

Noticed that in XP as well. You can still use that option without ACPI in Win2K though...very odd.

Did you try looking in Display Properties, Screen Saver, Power and then Advanced?

Check APM. ACPI should be located in your bios...
