1) sound card isnt hooked up
2) not enough video memory
3) video overlay ... (something, forgot error)

Anybody else have this problem, My sound card is hooked up... I have 256 megs ram... i dont know what video overlay is.

thanks in advance.

I have a creative dvd 6x rom

Well a video overlay is where the video card, takes a video feed from sometihng (im being simple here), and makes it nice and smooth (Again beign very simplistic here) - could we please have your system specs - we dont realyl know what were dealign with - might be a buggy soundcard (probably not but just for example) - Post your full specs please :) Or even better to save you ever typing them in again put them in your signature...

Peace.

Ok... well i think this soundcard was buggy a long time ago... but it appears to work fine, with games, audio playback. I dont know why it wouldn't work now. The rest of the system is as follows

amd k62-550 w/ asus p5a mobo
256 megs RAM
sound blaster pci128
creative dvd-6x
ati xpert 2000 pro w/ dvd playback support.
8 gig IBM HD

Here is the exact error message

playback has failed due to the one of the following problems:
1) Audio device is in use or not isntalled.
2) DIsplay overlay is not available.
3) Not enough video memory.

When installing the dvd software they provide, it notified me of a possible error. It said "dma is not enabled on my dvd drive" I tried to enable dma, but the button unchecked itself, which leads me to believe my drive is not DMA compatible? Now when i updated the dvd software, it said the same thing. But this time when i inserted the dvd, it would just freeze my machine. Thanks for any info here.
