want to upgrade from p3 750

I have a p3 750 with 256 ram right now and it perfromance is too slow for me right now. A lot of the new pages with all the flash and banner adds really slows my computer down. especailly if I'm listening to a music dvd at the same time. Will upgrade to a cel 1200 help or would I be better off to just to upgrade to new motherboard and cpu. I was thinking athlon xp 1600+ with sdr mb(wanna keep my ram). I'm really on a budget right now so nothing more then say $250. Any suggestion on a good cheap mb? thanks

Possibly tidying up your hard-drive would suit you better than upgrading allsorts.

Hard drive space is not the problem. Just got a new maxtor 7200 40 gig HD and promise ata100 card. Fresh install of windows too.

I would have imagined that to have been plenty quick enough in order to be able to play music and browse the web all day long. I'm only using a Celeron @450 at the moment and listening to MP'3's whilst browsing about 6 windows
