Hi,
I can't run Red Alert 2 and some other games under Win2000 or XP, When I goto run the game the monitor go into standby mode (monitor goes blank and the led flashed amber) and the computer needs to be restarted. I have made a dual boot with Win98SE so that I can play it. Is this a known problem? I have all the latest drivers and have updated windows with all the latest patches and the game says that it should run under 2000. I know other people who have this problem as well. I know that 2000, ME and XP no longer run with DOS is the problem that RA2 needs dos to run? Can anyone run RA2 under 2000 or XP?

I believe Red Alert 2 is a Real Mode DOS game. Windows 2000 dosen't like to give anything access to DOS (even though in Win2k, its artificial) so thats pro'lly why it won't play there. It should play fine in XP however.

my friend has win2000 on his dual system and plays with us online all the time. He has had nothing but problems since day one with this game, he even tried xp with no luck either, so he runs dual boot win98 so he can play with us, it seems to be a westwood problem, even though they say it works under win2k. He can play the single player game but has problems with videos and sound but when he plays online he gets blue screen errors and disconnect errors and all kinds of problems.
