Ok, I have some G.Skill Ram I want to overclock.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

I'm over clocking my cpu (q6600) and as my ram is 800 I can only do 400 fsb and you know what I'm just gonna post a quick cpu question too instead of making 2 threads

Ok, my cpu is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 and since I think the multiplier is set at 6 default (some people say it's 6 and some 9 what is it?) I can't overclock it as 400*6=2400 which is the default clock for the q6600 and thus I think I need to overclock the ram which is ddr2 800 and the fsb is 400 then... I'm really.. really sorry if this isn't making much sense :/ . Ok, I think thats all the info I can give right now that I seem to think is needed. If you have a question post and I'll try to answer.

I can't find out what the multiplier is as the psu in my build screwed up and having to send it back to newegg for a new one. I read the cpu overclocking guide as well in the cpu forum.

So in short do I need to overclock my ram to overclock my q6600?

The default FSB and multiplier for the Q6600 are 266 and 9 respectfully. In order for your RAM to run at it's default frequency of 800 MHz (PC2-6400), and w/ the FSB still at 266, would be to run it using a 2:3 (266/800) strap setting... at 2:3 the RAM would be running at 798 MHz. The default Vdimm for that RAM is 1.9V w/ the primary timings set to 5-5-5-15-2T.

Well I'm trying to overclock my cpu and if the fsb at 266 wouldn't my cpu clock be the exact same?

EDIT: Could I just overclock my fsb to 400 instead of 266 and I'd get 3.6ghz would that work? I'm obviously new to overclocking. And would it be possible to do 377 mhz thus getting 3.4 ghz? And would I have to mess with any ram voltages or cpu voltages or ram timings?
