Looking to build a new gaming/folding system on a tight budget. I'm looking at these items at Newegg:
Gainward CardExpert GeForce2 MX 200 32MB SDRAM AGP 45$
Guillemot-Hercules PCI, Cirrus Logic CS4624 Sound Fusion Chipset, 8mb Yamaha SYXG50. 4 speaker out; Optical In/out! A3D, EAX, DS3D, Sensaura 3D Engine 32$
Video is more important than sound to me. If I could get a cheaper price for equal or better graphics than great. I would be willing to go 10-15$ higher on vid card if there would be a significant jump in performance. Opinions please. TIA

Here are the best (IMHO) options;

The GF2 MX200 sucks donkey. The Hercules is a PCI card, have you decided which way you are going?

Mx200 sucks ass - i second that (it has a very slow pipeline) - I just picked up a Geforce2 Ti 32MB AGP for £65 inc VAT sterling. what that is in USD i dont know - i would imagine perhaps about 75-80, PCI? If your mobo has an AGP slot - dont waste precious PCI slots - the price difference (if any) between PCI and AGP models is marginal.
ppl who have had GF2 MX 200s have only complained. ppl with GF2 MX400s were generally quite happy. I dont think you can buy the original GF2 MX anymore - dont forget theres always second hand video cards hanging about - check yer newspaper...

Thanks for the replies.
Da Whip: The PCI card is for sound. This was not a choice between the 2 vid cards. This was a vid card and sound card that I had picked out at newegg for a new system I want to build. I would want a 4x AGP vid card and an adequate pci sound card. Sorry for not making that clear. I tried your links but got an empty cart page.
Mojoman: Well I know I should look for a different AGP card then.
Further info: Looking at Shuttle AK31 mb and a tbird(?Mhz), maybe volcano7 cooler and a Antec SX635 case. This is a system I want to improve upon later when I have more money and I can shift mb+cpu to p3 system in sig and go to new mb+XP with this system. Make sense?
Edit: Already have 256Mb PC2100 crucial

If you can wait for the Shuttle GTR ,it has raid ,5:1 sound, and its really fast ,it will be out in 6 days for about a 120.00,the shuttle boards are great boards dont let the price fool you ,check out my siggy.I wouldnt touch a gf 200 ,they do suck from what I hear ,an MX 400 isnt to bad.

Look for Funnyperson1's guide to buying a video card. A Radeon 32 DDR would be a good buy at around $45-55 US I believe
this is what I would buy
ATI Radeon 32MB DDR 4X AGP Video Card - OEM Powered by the ATI RADEON graphics processing unit (GPU) Featuring ATIs CHARISMA ENGINE, PIXEL TAPESTRY and VIDEO IMMERSION technologies - NO TV OUT Click Here for the TV Out Version Fedex Saver Shipping $5.00
link http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=48&manufactory=1126&DEPA=1
scroll down read ther reviews of people who bought the card, you probably can get the card even cheaper, it is shown at pricewatch.com ast $45 if you buy online at newegg.com yet at newegg it shows at $59 hmmm

I would invest a tad more cash and get yourself a Kyro 2...truly an amazing card! GeForce2+ performance for like $85

I suggest a Radeon32mbDDR, a Geforce2GTS, or a KyroII..in that order....for the 15-20$ more you spend you get anywhere from 33-50% more performance than an MX400......also do not get the MX200....it sucks....my friend with an Athlon XP1600+, PC133 got 15003dmarks with an MX200.....on my dads comp with a Celly1.2@1.44 and a rage Fury Pro got 1450 3dmarks....im sorry, but the MX200 is almost beaten by a Celeron and a rage Fury Pro????

ATI radeon it is then. I was reading up on them and I like that it has the DVD hardware decoding on board as well. Now for a cheap sound card:D
