I'm sure this is a really stupid question, but I have been working with video software, and when I try and save a file of 1GB I can't. I am having to save them as 0.99GB files. This is a problem because I now need to join them up and Windows 98 won't let me. How do I overcome this problem.
Thanks in advance.

here this link covers your question but may not be exactly what your looking for, the limits listed are not specific to the program(in this case Premiere) but to the OS/Format, the workarounds may or may not be only for Premiere, hope this helps

I am trying to join some vob files together. They are alright when I split them up to burn them onto DVD as it will change from on to the other seemlessly, but I want to run them on a laptop as one file. Is there some mod that can be made to Win 98SE to stop it enforcing a max file size??

could be but, I dont think so, with fat32 you are stuck with 4GB, you could go with 2k or xp formatted in ntfs and that would be one way

Sounds like the best bet. 2k it is. (Don't like XP much). To much of my hardware still only has unstable beta xp drivers.

Just before I install 2K. I notice that Win98SE lets you install it with the HD formatted in NTFS. Can I do this and solve my problem. If so, how would I go about doing that? A NTFS boot disk, repartition then format the HD and then Win98SE startup disk and install as normal?

as far as i know there is no ntfs win98 edition, i am pretty sure of this
as far as installing 2k, your best bet by consensus is to not do an upgrade install but do a clean install
u could just format out that win 98 boot into ur 2k cd pick the format to ntfs option for the amount of space u require and there u go
u could also format out that 98, clean install the 98 to a portion of ur drive and then clean install 2k to the remaining portion which would give u a dual boot option so u could use both
u cannot see nt5(w2k) formated NTFS from fat (win98) but u can read ur fat from ntfs

O.K. Thanx for that, the only reason I wondered about NTFS on Win98 is because I was installing it to a computer the other day and I had forgot to partition the HD, once the setup wizard had started it came up with an error stating that I needed a FAT16, FAT32, NTFS or Something else formatted drive. Thanx again for your advice.
