Compare and contrast?
P45 is mainstream Intel, and 790i is highend Nvidia. The 790i is only useful if you are going to be using SLI. Generally speaking, Intel's chipsets are better enginereed than Nvidia's and are cooler, faster, and more stable. At this point I wouldn't even consider the 790i in the run, it would be between a P45 for a single graphic card, and a X38/X48 for Crossfire.

P45 + HD4870x2 = win
I haven't tried any 3D on my P45 as yet, but for 2D benching. The P45 is the clear winner so far.
I also find the 790i like my wife....It tells me what it's going to do and when!
The P45 is a welcome change :)

What if we're not using ATI graphics cards- is there a difference with the choices then?
