View Full Version : Slow response from SONY CDRW drive

When inserting a CD into the Sony CD-RW drive, most of the time it doesnt recognize it right away unlike my other drives. Also, after inserting the CD, I click on Windows Explorer and I get this flashlight searching what's in the CD.

Is there a way I can improve this? This is really annoying. I have swapped that drive into my other system and still have the same problem. I'm thinking of getting an exchange but I'm afraid that it's suppose to be like this.

Right click my computer/Properties/Hardware /Device manager/IDE ATA ATAPI controllers/Right click primary IDE channel/Properties/Advanced settings/ and I beleive its under transfer mode...do the same for your secondary IDE channel

The laser could need to be cleaned...D: Does it do this with all your cdroms..could be a bad cdrom...E: try defraging your hard drive ..this could create slow access times.. also some specs on your system might help..:)
