Hi,

I just upgraded to Athlon 1.4 from a PII 450. Got a new case, power supply and MB, moved all the old components over (sound, modem, graphics, cd, floppy and burner). Powered up and nothing. Any ideas on how to test for a bad power supply?

Thanks in advance,

zz

Take everything out of the case and see if it'll start up. You may be shorting the board out somewhere.

Get a piece of wire about 4". Strip each end, and with the atx connector tab facing up, put one end into the fourth from the left on the top row of holes, and the other end into the third hole from the right on the bottom. Make sure your psu is off before this. THen turn it on and it should power up, this shorts the two pins like your mobo would. I had to test this out, nothing like and 80+$ psu dying
