Looks like i will be using these since i just brought home a 4850 from fry's. Funny part is i got it for only $4 more then at newegg after taxes. Frys has the diamond 4850 for $179, i think today is the last day for that price.

Yes. I followed the instructions and I am modifying the right file in the right location and activating it and nothing happens...

Try RBE (Radeon BIOS Editor), it mods the profile for you or better still it just lets you edit the BIOS. Read the FAQ though... I think there are two types of BIOS for the 48xx or something, which messed people around for a bit.

i went straigfh for the 8,7 beta once i got my 4850, considering AMD cant even update ther site with the 4 series and only haev 3 series kind of miss-leading

There is a 48xx hotfix driver on ATI's site...

if it's the hotfix that's been going around for a little while, this is to be used with the Catalyst 8.6 drivers and NOT with the 8.7 beta.

actually the hotfix is the first beta version of the 8.7's...and I have been using the beta 8.7's for over a week now...the drivers are not that stable for high OC's on my card...but it has improved my 3d marks score by 400+ marks on 06 and around 600 marks on Vantage...

Hopefully the full version 8.7's will be more stable and I can bench at 850/1350 without crashing...

The 8.7's are what the 4k's are looking for. These are the drivers that will help push out more since thats where im stuck at using the 8.6 hotfixes because I can't get the 8.7 beta's to work. But good to know that at least the beta's aren't as stable for high OC's, then again that surely makes up for it in the extra performance you get from it.
