Ok the race only has one or 2 weeks left so it is time for anyone else interested to say so(and anyone who is on the teams and wants off to get out). I would like to add about 10 more members so we can get 4 teams going and maybe race to 5-10k.
Count me in for another round! :)

If the team isn't totally ticked at me for going over to Sir-Epix's team, I wouldn't mind joining one of the races. If not then I fully understand. My current production is at 40 per day.

Thanks Cy and SpeeDj - count me in if no one objects.
I consider you counted unfortunately for me my slow pc's/available pc's are all qualified for the slow races LOL are the ones already running seti for me. But if we are doing it based upon our starting count without changing usernames would anyone mind if I head up that extra team ?

I'm in for another round too.
Might get my production back up to 45 a day for this one...hopefully.

Sorry but I am bouncing for Cy already...I keep the rift raft teams away if you know what I mean :)
But really looking forward to this next race...especally cause I will be at school for the whole thing, and you guys can see what I can really do.

Here (http://www.ocsetiteam.com/team_races.htm) is the current race. I make up the teams so they are even. Firehawk (team rank # 20) is also in. Once this race is complete I will anounce the new teams. I will try to keep everyone as happy as possible.

Count me in. I'm rather new to crunching, but as soon as I get my new mobo in the mail I'll start cranking them out. Should get about 3 or so hours each...give or take...

Last I checked we were just going from the point of whatever your stat count was and then starting the races. I could be wrong and I am sure if I am someone will be kind enough to correct me.

Yeah that is right. Basher and I tag team it...I do daily posts in the forums, and he posts weekly on the webpage. I stopped doing this on vacation, because this computer freezes every time I try. I think it is faulty motherboard. But since it is not my computer I don't care. My dad told me not to take it apart. I will be going back home before this race starts, so I will pick up where I left off.

Actually to make teams even I will "reallign" them. I try to get the average daily WU totals even so the race atleast starts even. I will post the teams asap. Proballly 1-3 weeks.

Maybe we need to incorporate school yard rules. Assign the team captains - those who are interested in the race post up - and each captain picks one at a time for the their teams.

Or we just post up team captains and users choose which team they would like to crunch for, I mean is it really a race if you are equally aligning teams so that their output is equal or close to it? Doesn't really seem like a race to me. Just my thoughts on that.

If the teams are equal, then it's a race to see who's the most consistent...

It seems to me that we might be getting just a tad too serious about "winning." Isn't the idea really to spur up even more interest in new people? And to try and tweak our machines to get that all important one more wu a week out of them?
Hey, I volunteer to be on the slowest team and still try and beef things up so that we come out on top!

You could end up with all the top crunchers on one team, and the others wouldn't stand a chance.
OCSetiTeam Draft 2002. Just like the pros. Set the teams captains, and start drafting from the avalable pool. Then you are not aligning, rather using strategy.

I think squeezing out every drop would be more important in a close race than one with a team starting out with a 20 WU a day advantage.
After completing the first race which ran by creating equal starting teams I would suggest the following. Post a poll and let the people interested in participating vote on the style of race they would like. Something along the lines of...
1. Create equal starting teams and force all teams to scramble for an advantage.
2. Allow team captains to draw from a pool.
3. Asign team captains and allow participants to join whatever team they want.
Let the people decide how they want to race. :)

I think a poll would allow people to choose a race style in a fair way. After we race in this way we can consider changing it again next race etc. These are just for fun after all. :)

Cy That is what my thoughts were on that, I mean we are doing this to have fun right? Basher what do you think of that proposal would that work or no? Just a suggestion, I mean you do run the Team Races so it is up to you.

I personally think that a poll would be a good idea, with the options that Cy posted.
1) Preselected, equally balanced teams. (Basher did an excellent job with the current race in progress. Teams started out equally, and had to assert tallents and resources to gain advantage over the other teams.)
2) A draft system. (This would be a draft situation. Members would enter a pool, Basher could supply the stats, and each team captain would use strategy to build a team. Each team would have a max member limit.)
3) Assign Team Captains and the participants choose their team. (This would be in the true tradition of Seti@home. May be a bit unfair, especially if 1 team got all the top crunchers. Again this solution would need a max member limit.)
With any of these solutions, Basher would still be race director as he was with the current race.
Well I will wait for Basher to respond as this is his baby.
