Sending files to another computer

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to send some files to friend of mine. Right now they're connected to each other through ethernet. How can I send these files through the ethernet jack?

is there a switch or a router involved?
if not you need a cross-over cable and you need to setup a PPoE type connection (point-to-point over ethernet)

Yes, there is a switch involved.

ok, so just share the folder with eh files in it, and tell your friend to browse to your computer name, and copy the files. Basically he has to put into explorer \\yourcomputername , and your computer should show up, he'll then be able to choose the files he wants.
