Raid 5 question.....

I think ive read somewhere that raid 5 performs at its best with an even number of drives? is this true?

Well, currently i have 3 1TB drives....on a raid controller supporting 4 drives, wondering if i should buy the 4th, and merge it in.

With Raid5 it doesn't impact performance if you are running an odd number or even number. Either way you are going to be Total number of drives minus 1 for space. but with how cheap drives are right now I would go ahead and do 4 1Tb drives in raid.
