View Full Version : My mouse freezes- how to fix?
At least once a day the mouse will freeze up and I have to shut down and unplug it then plug it back in. When I reboot it works again for a while.
I had the same problem on an old mobo I had (MSI6191) but I upgraded before I figured out the cause.
Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?
The mouse I'm using is a NewScroll Wireless model.

Are you overclocking? If so have you tried dropping back to your stock speed to see if the problem still exists. Do you have anything blocking the reciever. Keep in mind that these are "line of sight" devices. If there isnt a clear line of sight from your mouse to the reciever, this can happen. Take a look at your mouse's manual, is this it's way of telling you the batteries are low? Are you running the updated and/or proper drivers for the mouse?
Thanks for the response Kingslayer.
I have only bumped the FSB up to 136, which gives me 1500MHz out of my 1.33 Athlon. I will set it back to normal for a bit and see if that helps.
The line of sight is clear and distance is short also.
Batteries are good and I'm not inclined to think that is the cause, but it was a good consideration.
I'm using the WinME default driver for it as it works the same as the driver that came with it.
It is an annoying problem that I am determined to find a solution for. It's not the first time this has happened. It also occured with the first mobo I had, which was an MSI 6191. That board gave me fits and I replaced it with an Asus K7V, which is a great board and is still in my second system (never a blue screen or a glitch since day one).
I may try a different mouse and see if that helps also.
