I look on pricewatch for the Radeon8500 and notice some places say 230mhz for the core clock and others say 250mhz and i've seen 230~250.

What's up with this? How fast is the core suppose to be? I don't want to pay the retail price for the card, but i want to get the best card for my money. Are all the cards the same? Someone also said there's an OEM version from gigabyte, anyone know where that is sold?

Thanks.

The speed differences are due to different oem manufactuers... There are several manuf. and each makes a couple diff. speeds...

radeon 8500 = 275/550 (retail)
radeon 8500le = 250/500 (oem)
radeon 8500lele = 230/460 (oem)

Are all retails guaranteed to hit 275mhz?

all retail built by ATI cards are already at 275, you can probably hit 300 with them....

Theres combinations other than those above.

There is also a memory difference possible to add to the OEM nightmare, as well as possible differences in the Vmem resistor and the GPU resitor not to mention the 103 oem bios/

Silvel2edge, Yes Made by Ati retail 8500's are 275/275 as well as the soon to be on sale Gigabyte RETAIL Radeon 8500 which has 3.5ns memory and hardware monitoring.

Powered by ATI is OEM and with OEM's built in Taiwan, Hong Kong, The Netherlands and R.O.C. you just dont know what your going to get.

Just spend a sec and read ATI's page about ODM's :
