P5Q Pro locked?

Hey,

I have an ASUS P5Q Pro mobo BIOS 0506 and it seems I can't overclock it as it is locked.

Is there a way around this such as downgrading the BIOS? If so, how?

Odd. According to this review there are overclocking options. Not for the xtremist, but options nontheless.

What chip are you using?

"Intel® P45 chipset"

Can't change "CPU Ratio Control", only option seems to be Auto.

What CPU are you trying to OC, also 0506 is an older Bios, use the later ones

I think what the OP is trying to do is overclock by changing the multiplier, this is a CPU locked function, meaning the CPU has the multiplier upwards locked and can not be overclocked this way. You must OC the hard way by upping the FSB amongst other things.

Only CPUs that have unlocked multipliers are the Intel Extreme Editions (expensive) and AMD's Black Editions.

You have to type in the multi if you want to change it. Type 6 and hit enter and see what happens.

But, as Blazed said, this is not the way to OC. You want to change the FSB.

If you can't change the multi is kinda sucks to find max FSB
