What's peoples opinions on the P45 Mobo's. Specifically Gigabyte EP45-DS4P (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681312834) vs Asus P5Q-Pro (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299). Both basically the same value here in Australia

I've bee a Gigabyte MOBO users for ages. but there is a lot of love for ASUS boards. have heard there are issues with RAM compatability on ASUS boards.

what would you choose between the two - or perhaps another board in the same price range?

my reason for looking is i'm having issues, I believe are MOBO related rather than memory related (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=570636).

I've read about the P45 not being a great ocer over it's P35 counterpart. The P35 does better in that field. Your best bet would be an X38 board. X48 you'll be needing DDR3 to run it.

If you want to stick with the P35, then go for DFI. I've got the BloodIron and I luv it. 500FSB with zero issues. Be advised tho that the DFI has TONS of ram settings. Takes time to fine tune, but once it's dialed in, she flies!

Here's a screenie .

Don't get me started on the P45:beer:
Choose an x38 or x48 board.

There is nothing wrong with the P45, some people like Jaguars others like BMW's...some like quad core CPU's, others like dual cores....I say the P45 offer much more than what most P35 boards can offer, that is not only my opinion but my experience with dozens of boards.

what does x38/x48 offer over p45 and dare i go here 965P! my board is fairly good but i think its stoping my achieving 3.8-4.0 very bad vdroop. if Grumpy gets a board we will probly end up with the same ones.

woah - a 965, you still running windows 3.1 on that thing ;-)

are you admitting my problems are MOBO associated now - i thought you said you could FIX IT - no food for you then!!!!!

im not saying there mobo related and still dont think they are. but with prices the way they are and my droop the way it is and mobo the age it is might as well save another $2 if we buy at same time nub. yea thats right $2!

yeh - you should see a doctor about your 'droop'!

i should get payment for one of the ebay sales today - still havnm't heard back from the pickup tomorrow though

Why anyone would want to save a measly 50 bucks and get a P45 over an x38 or x48 is beyond me. The P45 has NOTHING on these chipsets, and lacks a few features. I know you like the P45, but then again, you like everything:p
In fact, I have seen you defend just about everything out there....

I hate alot of stuff, so let me saying it. Compared to my P35 the P45 is incredible. I'm getting better OC's per volt, its faster, it crossfires like a champ, had less hiches than installing the P35, and its pretty.

P45 rawks ;)
