yeah my RMA request was approved and i would have been really mad if it had not been.
In November i bought what i thought was an "Antec SX1240" full tower case, from an online reseller. it looked just like and Antec case and everything the price was waaaay low so i jumped on the deal.
End of November and im checking out the Antec site and find out about certain resellers are selling look alike Antec products. I send an email to Antec about my suspicions that day, and yesterday i recieve and email from Antec saying yeah that was one of the resellers yada yada yada. i put in a RMA request right after than and today i was approved. yeah it was a nasty little request too but it worked! :) and now im going to have a real Antec SX1240 full tower case.
Shame on those reseller who false advertise.
Great that it's getting RMA'ed but you don't have to send your old case do you ?

loooks exactly the same, to a teee i mean i would not have known about it unless i saw the popup at antec's website.
All antec cases comes with an Antec psu, in my case it would have been a 400 w psu. the case i have came with an Enhance 350w psu. i did not get an owners manual, nor did the box it came in say Antec anywhere on it and there is no serial number anywhere on the case.
just little things that the unknowing would not catch
Ah..
I would have just kept the case ..
I hate RMAing really as the shipping is very expensive(especially a case). Although the PSU would be what I would be wanting to change as well as an authentic Antec case not no imitation case :D

well on the RMA notice, it said there is no restocking fee and i dont have to pay return shipping. so i was happy about that. just dont have anything to put my comp in while my case is gone.
gonna have to fashion a cardboard box or something
Just be careful with the motherboard since it is meant to be grounded to a steel tray..
As if something static may come across it and kill it.
WD RMA'ed my HDD and it was fast(2 weeks altogether), and I didn't pay for their shipping to me...

YOU PEOPLE ARE FOOKING IMPOSSIBLE!
antec doesnt make those cases!
there is a company in hong kong that makes them all and antec just throws their psu in them and a manual.
those alienware cases that you see around are bought from this manufacturer, not purchased from antec. Those cases are identical to the 1030sx model, or should i say that the 1030sx is identical to the alienware case? what you got was not an antec product, but was identical to the antec product because antec buys from the manufacturer that also happens to sell it to the company that markets your case..... so it wasnt a cheap knock off, it just wasnt the overpriced antec label that you wanted.
[/rant]
Chieftec resells those cases too, in my opinion the Antec name really doesn't mean that much when I know already they don't even make their own cases.
Just my two cents

yeah i paid $114 for this case shipped, if i send it back and they send me another authentic Antec case, then i would get the Antec 400w psu, which that is the part that made me mad.

so if it has an antec psu and comes in a box labeled antec,
its authentic?
the only way that could be a fraud is if they listed the case as antec.
I had to RMA a mobo. Cost me £6.50 postage to send it back, but I got my £55:D
Bought a printer.

Yeah, there are many people that sell "Antec" cases that just buy them from the same manufactorer. But yes, getting the Antec PSU will be very nice. I could care less about the case.

they actually listed cases by manufacturer and I went under Antec and they had a few Antec cases(or what they called antec cases) and said yeah, these are the real deal. so it was kinda like fraud.

I know the cases you speak of...got a cheiftech one at work, the white one...it was only $45 with no psu (I like to choose my psu)...it was the Cheiftech...I must say, it was one of the sweetest cases I've worked with. I usually don't like driverails, but loved em there. Plus, the harddrive cage was easy to take out, plus, it had a spot for an 80mm fan! So I put a 40gb IBM 60gxp in the middle slot of the cage and set the fan to blow across it...pretty decent hdd cooling for free!
I figured that cheiftech was a division of Antec since they appeared exactly the same...I think that instead of the psu, the case you got might have been identical.
Makes you wonder though, if Antec actually approved your RMA then they must have something to do with these "non-Antec" cases...I mean, why would antec take someone elses case and give you theirs for free? One would expect it would be up to the reseller to refund you and fix it, not Antec...
Congrats nonetheless though...you'll get a nicer psu atleast, and assurance that it's a true antec case!
Mike
Antec cases if I am not mistaken are manufactured by Chenbro and the PSU's atleast the 350watter is a rebagged HEC...Does anybody know who makes the 420watt psu that comes with the Cheiftech SX1240 knock off ???
