I've currently thinking about building the following system that I'm trying to OC to 4+ghz stable
I'm not looking to go all out just something cost effective.
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4P motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
4GB Corsair DDR2 PC-8500/1066 or OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC
HD4870 Graphics card

will i get away with just CPU cooling if I'm not OCing the cards ect?

All recommendations welcomed

I'm currently looking at these 2

The Flabbergast is pretty nice for the price in AU.

You'll need 3 fans, some liquid. I use Distilled water and biocide (Petras) for my liquid. MANY MANY do.

That setup will be able to cool the GPU too, I don't have the 4870 but others have WC'ed it already I think.

You'll want hose clamps or something to hold the tubing. The inner lined ones are better. You'll need at least 2m of tubing or close to it. 3m gives you some left overs to compensate for mistakes etc. You'll need about 3 gallons of distilled water to rinse/fill the parts.

Link to first time install in the computer.

Clean the rad WELL.

Don't coun't on water to be the magic OC of all to hit 4.0+. It will give you a quiet system, great temps to reach the best normal OC you can get.

Why are those prices so high? I realize it's Australian, but the exchange rate with US dollars is about even. Am I missing something?

Shipping, taxes, import rates, markups etc.

You should see the EU prices they have to pay for US stuff. Even with the $ drop.

both are good kits, the flabbergast will likely perform better (better cpu block and rad (3*120 vs 2*12)) and either could likely also handle a gpu (though with a high end gpu if you wen to a quad then the 2*120 would be borderline). One suggestion I might make for the flabbergast would be to go to a swiftech mcres, instead of the bayres, its easier to fill (and to bleed) and it is less likely to leak.
