Hey,

As my lower post about my dead HDD describes (click here) (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=571346) I had my 160 gb sata drive fail.

I have a 120gb 7200rpm from a dell xps1530 (sent in for warranty repair, never made it back).

I want to use this instead for now at least. I've installed the necessary drivers for the HP laptop (chipset, video card, network card [how im posting this now])...but I imagine my registry on this drive must look like HELL!

What should I do/uninstall/reinstall so that I can optimally run this drive?

I'm not sure but you could use the system restore. Start menu > All programs > Accessories > System tools.

Do note that your HP drives etc will also be erased.

...system restore on this new hard drive? It wouldn't have ANY of my hp data on it.

I'm using a different hard drive in a laptop.

Sorry, I got misled by "this".

Why would it look like hell? I had xp sp2, rivia tuner + death adder drivers, antivirus etc and it did not hog it down, when compared to xp sp2 without anything. The only time it slowed down was the installation of benchmarks and games
