wouldent it be nice if MTS made an 80mm Glaciator. i see many companys going that route i thing the Glaciator would work well only problem is they would have to use the mobo holes for mounting beacuse it would weigh so much.

Yeah, it would cool extremely well, i would think...the only thing is, the 80mm fan would make it simply HUGE. Then again, the 8045 has shown us that huge heatsinks can indeed fit on many motherboards...but I am wary of putting something that heavy on a tiny 'mino die.

You need at least 25lbs of pressure for them according to AMD for good heat transfer. Heavy HSFs do have a problem as they can rip the socket lugs off but then again the ALPHA PAL 8045 uses the 4 bolt mounting system so it does not apply.

Remember guys that when you look for extreme cooling measures on air you will have to go big & heavy. The best HSFs available are OUT OF SPEC in regards to AMD weight requirements.

hehe i just got a wicked idea how about a 120mm hsf you could cut parts out of the bottom for clearence and support moast of the weight with the case and use boldt to apply the pressure :D well maybe thats a little over board

Problem?! I would prefer if heatsinks were make to use the mounting holes, as it is much more solid and stable than those tiny clips on the plastic socket.

I dont see why they dont, they have a killer design, they just need to scale it up by %30 or so. Maybe we should start a petition.
