I don't know if they sell this particular model anymore, but I got a Creative Labs Webcam 3 about a year ago...it was only $50 at CompUSA and it gives a pretty decent picture. :)

Mine is an Intel. I don't see this particular model in stores any longer, but there are others that are very similar. Highly Recommended!

I use a 3com but they don't sell them anymore. It is a great webcam especially in low light.

One question you need to ask yourself is what do you intend to do with the cam. If you intend to use it for video conferencing you need to make sure that you get one that is compatible with the video conferencing program that you want to use.

Personally I use a Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000. The QuickCams are good quality cams and have been compatible with every program I have tried them with. Be careful about buying discontinued models of any of the cams if you use XP or are going to be using XP in the future since most older cams are not compatible with XP and the cam makers aren't doing updated drivers for them.

HOW MUCH ARE THESE THOUGH?
I am trying to buy a bunch, and I can not be spending more than 40 dollars tops for cam and software--I am basically looking for a good bargain, I guess.

Just go to www.pricewatch.com and you can check out prices, you are not going to get a very good cam for $40 tho.

Unfortunately, it comes down to money here...I am going to be getting them for friends who will not use them very much, other than for netmeeting, etc.

I found a USB IBM PC-CAM for 25 bucks-it says it pushes out 30fps in cif(352x288)format. That seems good to me...I deal with Adobe Premier, and that res is not too poor, really. Honestly, if it really is as good as it advertises for, it's worth the buy to me.

Give me some feedback, I may be way off here.
Thanks, Tim

I have a Creative WebCam 3 USB. Creative software and drivers are very bad.

I use a TV-card with a video camera. It will give you a much better image then any standard web cam.

I second ebay. I got a D-link there for $10 (with $11 shipping). My preview on screen is as good or better that some of the pics I have seen taken with more expensive units.

Too bad eyeball chat can't cope with my firewall however:( :( :(

Did you have to bid? I can go through e-bay, but I need about 6 or 7, I think...and I hate bidding anyway.
