So I purchased Bioshock today but it is acting really weird. Even with the settings on minimum at the game at 640x480 resolution the game is a little choppy. In addition my character runns extremely fast. I am talking standard walking speed for my characters is 4-5 times the speed of sprinting speed in HL2.

While I recogize my system won't be able to run the game at max settings, I was at least hoping to run it at minimum settings at 1280x1024, especially since I can run crysis at 1680x1050 at mixed low/med settings. In addition the run speed thing seems very odd as I have seen bioshock played before I know my character should not be running as fast as he does.

Current system is a opteron 170 @ 2.7 Ghz, Winxp, 2gigs of ram and a Nvidia 7800gtx.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try resetting all the settings to default? Those are usually optimal for your system.

Weird indeed, do you have the latest patch for the game?

I'd say download the latest patch and update all your drivers. (Use Driver cleaner.)

They had a patch that auto-downloaded as you were installing the game I think. Other than that, I went through and beat the whole game before they released another patch... so I don't think it's that. It must be a problem with your system because actually you SHOULD be able to play it at full resolution.

...it's not a very demanding game.

Really... weird...
Is it only your character running really fast, or is the whole game sped up? Any overclock on that system?

But do uninstall ntune, then video drivers, then reinstall the new ones.
