does anyone know how far a 4850 will OC?
an cooling should not be a problem cos i just put a 4850 into a build for someone an i could get the temps down to idle 30 load at 47 but that was starting to get a little bit noisy but not to much ill probably set mine to idle at around 40 cos that is quite but if i have to get it lower i will

regarding the HD 4850/4870 thread, the highest OC on a 4850 is 752MHZ on the GPU with a voltmod and 1155MHZ on the memory so far..

personally I had my GPU on 730MHZ without any mod, but you'll need to use AMD's GPU tool rather than Overdrive for that, because Overdrive is locked at 700MHZ.
With memory you usually run into a wall at around 1100-1150MHZ..

That's from my experience so far

Mine is at 690/1153 with aftermarket cooling. Thermalright V2 with 27 cfm 80mm fan @ 7 volts, mid 30's C idle, 50C after 2 hours of WoW.

This is with a bios reflash and a couple lines with my pencil ( its the most I will take it on stock cooling)

Took mine up to 750/1130 on the stock cooler with a pencil mod and fan @ 100%.

I guess I got the highest core so far;)

People have taken the cores upwards of 850Mhz on the card with volt mods. It basically tops out around that, due to the power circuity. If not mistaken thats with 1.35-1.4V on the core any more people get varying results as it the GPU doesn't go higher or it will start the reverse clocking where it will drop the clocks, to nothings changed. Memory not sure what people are getting, I know people are putting the memory voltage to 2.09V if not mistaken, not sure if that's an increase or decrease in voltage.

Oh as well supposedly if you know where to edit the CCC profile for fan speed and all that, there is voltages in there. Someone over at XS says it works in increments of .003V but I haven't tried it due to my cooling, so instead of bios flashing the card it can be done that way as well, but ideally you'd want to flash the bios to get the voltage and the clocks to go with it.

This is where the 4870's power circuity comes in providing cleaner and more stable power to the GPU where it can hit upwards of 900-1000 on the core depending.

Thanks man, for comparison I have another visiontec 4850, and can hit 780. So this card is a gem on the stock cooling with fan at 100%

ok thanks guys but what about without volt mods cos i was not planing to do that cos i have never tried volt mods with a pencil trick an i realy DON'T want to kill it.

680-730Mhz core, not sure on memory. Stock volts/cooling.
