Quake 2 - Test

Me and my buddy still use Quake 2 as our benchmark test to see how high we can go with it. Its kinda of fun to see how advanced we have come. But its always cool to see crazy frame rates with Quake 2.

If any of you still have it installed like I do.

Try this:

Hit the Tilda
and type: Timedemo 1

map demo1.dm2

press up arrow, enter to run it again.

Some of the scores are crazy. Try it at all resolutions starting with 1024 x 768.

I can't seem to get past 1000 FPS, Either with my 9800GTX or my GTX 280.

I know the test is pointless, but just to see what Quake 2 can do on newer technology.

Its not that pointless, it is a great CPU test! Reviewers have been doing it with Quake 3 for a long time.

Sounds like fun to go back and forth trying to outscore a buddy. Whats the highest fps you reached?

you have to raise the cap!

you don't have to install it..just run the exe from your storage drive...(if you saved the whole 2 gb folder like I did....heh..
