What sound card do you all have??Im getting rid of this SIIS 4d wave crap.

SoundBlaster Live Mp3+ 5.1
Good card, surround sound...great with my DVD!
Couldn't install it with my ATI Radeon though. They don't seem to play nice together. I traded the ATI for a Matrox G450, and all was well. (I don't game anyway, I'm using the dual head Matrox so my DVD plays in the living room)
Just so ya know.

SB AWE64 G'old' with 12Mb of RAM:D
I bought it about 5 years ago.
But I'm probably gonna buy a Santa Cruz (called Sonic Fury made by VideoLogic in Europe) or a Terratec EWS64 XXL.
I also have a 'regular' AWE64 (have to take a look at it cuz it seems one channel isn't working properly) and some other crappy cards (tho I like one of those crappy cards cuz it has several digital in and outputs).

Get a Santa Cruz, they're about $80 and sound better than the LIVE.
Have a look here (http://www.pcavtech.com/soundcards/compare/index.htm).

Hercules Game Theater XP
I don`t think there is any real argument as to the best sound card (Audigy) but if you are considering building a system with the new Via KT266A chipset the Santa Cruz / VideoLogic Sonicfury has to be considered as it`s new drivers are WhQL sertified. There are sound issues with the Via/Nivida/S.Blaster chipsets & the Santa Cruz card handles these issues very well.
Read www.viahardware.com
The soundblaster range of drivers are not so good & are quite demanding on the system, causing poping & crackling noises in some cases.
Hope this helps your dession.

yes there is, i've owned the audigy and i've liked it just fine, but it's driver issues and resource hogging are big no nos to me, i like my gametheater xp 6.1 just fine and dandy thank you. the audigy is inferior if you ask me, sound quality is the same on both, but the xp has much better connectivity. cheaper than the platinum by a long way as well.
Hi FrozenInHI
Thats what I was trying to say in my previous I actually owned an Audigy for a day & it just gave me to many probs with my set up.
I then read the reviews & FAQs at via & was advised to ditch the Audigy & get the Sonicfury. Best advise I got for my Rig.

Asus A7V266-E/Alpha 8045

Geforce 3
VideoLogic Sonicfury
30 Gig Maxtor 100ATA / 7200rpm
12/10/32A Plextor
Antec 1035
19" Iiyama Monitor
Either the Hercules GameTheatre XP or the Santa Cruz.
I would go with the GameTheatre XP as if you had an amplifier it would definitely be a good sound card, and I heard the quality is better than good if you have really good speakers since surround sound :D

I have the Audigy Gamer and the MP3+ Live. I'd have to say the Audigy is the best I.ve had or heard.

Really? Please explain...
I know it will reproduce a 4 speaker sound on 4 speakers, but it cant do real actual 2 channel/4 speaker sound...
Unless I'm really missing the boat here.
I'd like to know as well as I have that card, unless I enabled the "Surround Sound" instead of the 2 speakers in the Audio HQ or something like that.

Bet you guys haven't heard of this one, Diamond Monster Sound M80. The M100 and MX200 all have the DSP engine, this thing puts the Sound Blaster to shame. The later Diamond MX300 and MX400 had different chipsets and suck in comparison. They don't make these card anymore, but sometimes on Ebay you can find them for less than $20. They don't have all the features of the Santa Cruz, but the DSP chipset reproduces sound just as crisp, dynamic and full, a real bargain.

I use the Philips Acoustic Edge card in two computers. Other (older) computers have the SB AWE64 and Vibra16C ISA cards.
