View Full Version : 16,633- 3DMark06 with a 4870 and a G35 Chipset...that seem right?

I see that a lot of people are breaking 17k in 3DMark06 with a quad and a single 4870. Most of those guys are running X38/X48 chipsets.

I am using a G35 northbridge and my results are around 400-600 points lower than the X38/X48 guys. Could this be caused by a limitation in my chipset (ie PCI-E 1.0 rather than 2.0)?

All of the specs for my 3DMark runs are listed in my signature.

Tell me what you think!

That seems just about right, remember 3DMARK06 score is heavily influenced by CPU speeds, bump your quad up to 3.8 or 4 Ghz and you'll break 17 k easily :)
BTW, the PCI-e 1.0 lane is more than adequate to handle that card, it is rated at x 16 so no problems there.

I've had a little trouble getting my Q9450 over 3.6GHz. I am still experimenting though.

*UPDATE*

Bumped up my 4870 memory to 1100. Score is now 17,141!

Damn what are your voltage settings? My 780i seems to hate going past 1850Mhz FSB, but I manage to crash on desktop at 4Ghz instantly :(

Good work with the scores :D

what u complaining about...ur scores are awsome for a single 4870 and yea the higher cpu speed u go the higher ur score...i break the 16k barrier after 3.4 gig. Besides who cares about benchies dont really mean anything since it isnt practical...its your games fps which are important..

Run 3dmark06 in XP and see your score closer to 18k. :)

Is there still that big of a gap between XP and Vista?
