Hi all
I have an Asus Rampage and currently have 4 gig off Dominator pc36400 in it.
I have vista 64 so can use more and i play a game thats memory intensive so i am going too buy some more memory.
The manual says it supports DDR2 AT 1200/1066/800. The overview of the motherboard on their website also says it supports DDR3 memory.
So question is, what memory do you guys suggest i buy, speed for gaming is most important, price is irrelevant as i can buy 2 - 2 gig chips now and save and get another 2 later.

are you sure Rampage Formula supports ddr3 memory?
i shuodl've spent the extra $$ to get that board then. futureproofing to the max.
althought from my knowledge, i only know it supports ddr2 memory.

The way Asus lists that is misleading. The chipset is CAPABLE of driving DDR3, but the MoBo must be configured as such. the ASUS Rampage Formula is not - it is soely a DDR2 MoBo.
I'd get 2x 2GB sticks of good low CAS DDR2-1066. I like the G-Skill stuff lately. Good and cheap :) DDR2-1200 will get you a bit more bandwidth, but the cost drives me away from it...
You might not get tons more bandwidth than your current DDR2-800. What's your current memory bandwidth?
im in the same situation here, where i still have to decide what ram to buy, i also have the same motherboard. As quite a few people have reccomended the G skill sets, i think their pretty good also. The mobo does not support ddr 3 only ddr 2..If you run Vista like myself the best buy would 4gb of PC8500 ram, G-skill/Kingston Hyper/corsair.

I just bought some dominator 4096-9136c5df at 1142 mhz.
Wanted too get the OCZ cause guys on here have had good reports about it but there wasnt any available in Australia.
Been mucking around lately and have this Rampage and Q6600 up too 3.4 ghz.
It is a damm good board.
Now all i have too do is learn about clocking the memory as its only at 460 mhz in cpuz.
I ordered an E8600 on Friday and that will tun up on Monday. Alberquerque and a few others are adamant that GHZ is best for gaming so hopefully I can go 4.3 ghz with that E8600.
Asus arent very nice in their advertising, they really make it sound like the Rampage Formula cn take DDR3 but it cant, why opn earth mention it if it cant.
