Hey all.
I'm adding two quads to the farm.. A Q9450 and a slightly overlclocked Q6600. For some reason I cannot optimze the Q6600. I've optimized 25 computers and never had this problem. When I optimize it every WU unit instantly fails with "Computation error"..
I've tried stopping BOINC and stopping the services, then unistalling BOINC, then deleting the folder, and completely re-installing.. Default 5.27 app runs fine but as soon as I optimize the WU's fail..
Any ideas? Are there BOINC registry settings I need to delete too?

Maybe your optimized files got corrupted when you transferred them to that computer? Are you sure the system is stable?
Just a question, you were trying to install AK V8.0 SSSE3 client on that q6600 right?
Coz there is also available client for wolfdale procs that supports sse4 that wont work with q6600.
Installing that client on q6600 should result in problem similar to that what you described.

I thought of a corrupt file too, so I did a clean boinc install a re-installed BOINC and re-downloaded and installed the optimizer

Yup, AKV8 SSSE3x 64-bit. (It's Vista 64 business)
You can see how this would be frustrating!

It is the Optimization file... I have done that a few times. Have you tried other optimization files such as the 32 bit or the SSE version? I know it is not what you wanted but you might want to try that!
I would just use the 32 bit version anyway, as the 64 bit won't offer any performance increase anyway.

Downloading the 32 bit version seemed to work just fine! So far so good..
Thanks for your help guys!
