View Full Version : what wattage ????
ok guys quick question what wattage does a non clocked .
1800 xp give out heard about 89 is this correct
if so a 120 pelt should be ok to push abit more out of this i have unlocked it and only have a zalman 6000cu heatsink and fan
would i need to go water cooled to use the pelt as i did use a pelt 72watt with my old p3 and an alpha air cooled
hope you can help
thanks in advance
My XP 1800 runs stock speed at 1.6V. Given that accomplishment, it would be radiating 60W. When you try to overclock this chip, the voltage needed to do so goes up quickly. Mine will hit 1755 Mhz at 1.95V. Given that accomplishment, it would be radiating 95 watts. A 156W TEC would just squeak by cooling this, but forget about using one with any air cooled solution. You need a quality water cooled setup to handle that kind of heat transfer and yield a useful core temperature.
For calculating wattage you can download this program from the front pager here:

and the supplement files here:

thanks for the swift response what sort of water cooling equipment do you recomend
pump ?
block ?
rad ?
res ?
any ideas
Here Is what I reccomend.
Pump Maxi-Jet 1200 (http://www.marinedepot.com/a_ph_mj.asp?CartId=)
Water Block Dangerden Maze2
Radiator Dangerden Cooling cube or any decent copper core radiator
Reservoir You can use a 4x4x4 electrical junction box avalable at the Home Depto or you can make your pump inline so you dont need a reservoir.
See my signature. No resevoir.
