2. if question 1 answer is 1 bridge is the second for a 3rd/4th card?
3. if question 1 is 1 bridge does a second actualy detiorate the quality/performance or just not increase it?
4. what is the difference between crossfire and crossfirex if any?

It just depends honestly...most of the newier cards see no performance gain using both...but the older cards needed both to run properly...CCC usally has a fit if both are not connected at times...but thats CCC :bang head

The 3870 X2 is setup for only 1...with my setup I have no choice but to run 1...

Try using one connection. Test it out. Then try using two connections. Use whichever performs better and/or doesn't give you issues.

Nobody knows the real answer.

Using 2 or 1 enabled crossfire x for me, I didn't notice any difference.
