Hey,

I'm putting together a loop that's only going to cool my P4 2.4C for now. I bought an Apogee GT for a very reasonable price on a forum and a '77 Bonneville heater core from the local auto shop and I am on the look out for an MCP655/D5 pump. I am currently in the process of making a shroud for it. I'm thinking about picking up a pair of Panaflo U1 fans off the classies which each move 115 CFM. I want to know if that will be enough/too much for what I'm cooling. I'm planning to upgrade my computer eventually and move the loop over so I want it to be able to cool a quad core cpu and perhaps a video card in the coming years. I'm worried about the noise of the fans, but I figure I'll get a fan controller and turn them down when I want quiet. Also, should the fans be pushing or pulling air through the heater core?

Thanks,
af

those fans will be plenty. with my twin 120mm fans on the lowest setting i cant hear anything from the computer except the pump and thats barely audible. while folding and at 100% the hottest it gets on low setting is 47*C and ive got a cpu and gpu on the loop.

Heater cores work best with high CFM fans since they are so thick. Get a fan controller to adjust them.

It should be able to handle a quad and a GPU, but your temps might not be anything to brag about. It will do the job though. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

I don't think that push or pull makes any difference with a shroud.

In my experience (and I use HCs almost exclusively!) the fans you've got listed will be more than enough for almost anything you want to cool.

I prefer my fans in a pull configuration, it just seems to work out better ... :)
