Im just wondering if a 1.2ghz Morgan would be faster than my 1.2 t-bird ? because doesn't the morgan core utilize sse? and how much faster would it be really? i wonder how high you can oc these chips.. their aren't many in the database last tiem i checked so thats why im asking

I thought there were a few other tweaks on the memory fetching bits as well, but I recall a review some time ago saying the difference was pretty negligable.
Don't know about overclockability
no the tbird will do 1.5ghz with good cooling and the morgan durons so I hear aren't overclocking well. the 9x166 tbird will smoke the duron with 12x100! the memory scores and apps will be faster at the higher fsb.
I bet Photoshop would take advantage of the sse but most stuff won't be faster on the morgan.

Well, a Morgan at 12x100 vs a TBird at 12x100 is pretty close. The differences are primarily between apps that use large files (files that are greater than the 256kb cache size on the TBird). The morgan's hardware prefetch overpowers the TBird in that department. Because of SSE the morgan also does better in media playback and encoding.
If you're looking at max overclocking potential though, the 1.2 Morgan MAY get to 1.35 or 1.4 if you're lucky. If you get a good stepping 1.2 TBird, you can almost count on 1.4-1.5 with high end air. The fsb thing is a good point, el, but keep in mind you can raise the fsb on the Morgan as well, and to run 166 FSB you're obviously going to need a board that supports a /5 PCI divisor.
Realistically, I would go with a TBird if you're building a single CPU system. It's got more oc potential and is probably more powerful on the apps you run. the 1.2 Morgans just came out anyway, and are overpriced. I'm building a dual Morgan box soon and I'll probably be using 1.0 or 1.1 morgans since they're quite a bit cheaper.

oh yes the highest fsb i can do is 160mhz because i have a stick of generic pc-133 512mb but it does 160 thou i usually run 150mhz fsb.. I even run my backup Duron which im using right now with 155fsb.. its great!

a morgan is a duron which runs at 200 fsb if the tbird is also 200 then it will be close, i would stay w/ the tbird if it is working fine
does your mobo support xps? go with the 1500xp for 100 shipped. check out cyber deals. I believe they will be the best if produced lately.
