I was about to order a 80W peltier (Kryotherm ICE-71) and a 80CFM Delta fan (FFB-0812EHE), but when surfing the web I ran across some Tom Leufkens Pletier kits which include a 50W peltier, coldplate (don't need one), backplate (might be useful), Thermal Compound (always handy), Foam gasket (I could use the part that goes inside the socket) and a manual (definitely don't need that:p ).
The ICE-71 is about $40, the kits are about $20 now I'm wondering if I should buy the ICE-71 or two of those kits.
Some info for when I buy 2 of those kits:
1 I'm gonna use air cooling.
2 I'm not gonna stack the peltiers but put them side by side.
3 I can get enough copper for a bigger coldplate (Thanx Mike:) )
4 I'm gonna need a bigger HSF, which I probably gonna make myself:p (I have a HUGE HS collecting dust).
5 If I fail, I'm back at 840MHz (888 with PEP66 and 62W peltier now).
6 I'm using a slocket, but I'll reinforce it if necessary (The pelts, coldplate and HSF will have an estimated weight of 750-1000 grams:eek: ).
To be honest, I cant afford failing and being left with two useless peltiers (at least for now), cuz as soon as I get the goodies the 62W peltier that I'm using now will be returned to its rightful owner:eh?: and I'm back at 840 and I really want this CPU to run @ 900MHz (at least).
oh one more thing, I'm a pioneer (sort of) so I don't mind to take a risk, but I would like your opinion on this.
TIA
**EDIT** does anyone know if the Tom L. peltiers are potted or not? if not I'm probably gonna get the ICE-71.
well Imo i would say that theoretically youd be better off with the 2 50 watt pelts cause theu should be putting out about 64-68 watt of cooling power @ 12v and the 80 watter should be putting out about 60-64 and well ok you will be cooling a larger area with 2 pelts thats for sure making a bit of enificiency but if well in sulated you should be able to restrain that to almost nutting(less the 2 watts easy). And well you already have the foam and other goodies to go with it. All in all i would go for the 2x50watter(should be 51.4 or 52 watter thoe, im guessing you just made it an even number or the store :)). And well if you decide on following my advice, drop me a line @ buffhr@videotron.ca to let me know how it goes :) if it doesnt go well(since this is a close call) well im dearly sorry and well lmk, i might have sumtin to fix that laying arround`:)

Anyone, Anybody, Somebody, Everyone, All of ya;)
Should I buy 2 of these kits and get my hands dirty....again (I did that last month modding the PEP66) or buy the ICE-71.......................................... and get my hands dirty (got to mod the PEP66 to fit the 80*80*38mm Delta, probably gonna make a duct so I can put the Delta in the back of my case).
*EDIT* Oh and yes buffhr I'll let you know (BTW the store made it 50W).

I'd recommend a single 72watt or above TEC for best results. Two 50watt ones would be pretty good, but it may get messy powering it and cooling it. Since you've already had some experience with them, you should be fine. The reason why I would use one TEC is because that the heat from the processor may not dissperse to the extremes of the old plate, so some of your cooling power may be wasted. Another member had a very good experience with dual pelts, so I may be wrong

I searched the web and found that the 50W peltiers are actually 51.4W and they are potted, also Vmax is a little less compared to the ICE-71 (16.1V) tho I'm not sure if the TL pelts are 14.4V or 15.4, cuz they seem to be Melcor peltiers and on their site it says 15.4 and on another site (http://www.overclockers.com/articles25/) it says 14.4V.
Anyway they should be a bit more efficient @12V (probably negligible when they're 15.4V).
I just mailed the store to see if they still have the two kits (only two in stock).
You guessed it, I'm going for the kits.
I've put the few brain cells I've left to work and came to the conclusion that it should be easier to get rid of the heat produced by the two peltiers due to the larger surface area.
Another advantage is that I will be able to use the first two RAM slots again.
Well we'll see what happens, I'll probably write an article about this.
Thanx for your replies.
Let us know how everthing turns out. I am putting together my first peltier setup so I am interested in everyones oppinion.

CRAP, Yesterday I mailed the guy to ask which brand/type fans they had (the Delta I mentioned is from another store), I didn't get any feedback so I decided to have a look at their shop survey, I did that before but I didn't look at the replies cuz it seemed to be fine (8.0 out of 10).
The first reply I read was from a guy that said he had bought everything.
After searching a bit I found out that they'll stop in February:(
I also found a phone #, and called they guy, he confirmed that he's gonna stop, I couldn't hear him to well cuz he seemed to be driving.
I placed an order anyway. Think I'll just have to wait and see.
BTW:I would have bought all his stuff:
11x Arctic Silver Adhesive
5x Rounded cables (80cm)
18x Casefans
20x Slotfans
10x Socket A Spacers
6x Socket 370 Spacers
2x Peltier kit <------MINE:mad:
36x Ramsinks
and about 50 casebadges
All of this for €227 (about $200).:eh?:
I'll keep you updated, and yes Bender I'll let ya'll know tho it might take a little longer.
*EDIT* I got an E-mail that confirmed my order, but it probably was one of those "automatic" E-mails.
