lol i scared myself silly just a minute ago.. i had just completed modding my sk-6 to hold a 80mm fan on squared as appossed to side ways sitting on it and i chipped the core apparently when i went to put it back on, it wouldn't post so i yanked the cord pulled out the power supply and then my HS.. i then pulled the chip and stuck it under a light only to reveal i had just chipped my 1.2ghz AXIA *9 aaaaahhhhh what horro have i bestowed upon me.. not to worry.. quick prayer to God.. Please let this work i can't afford to pay for a another good chip (1.4ghz or xp1600) i don't wanna use my crappy backup Duron 700mhz oc @ 900 noooo please let it work amen

slapped on my stock heatsink.. much quicker to put on and booya it works!! yea!! now i have to still put on my sk6 yet though i hope i don't ruin it for good this time...

*note i have put on my sk6 soooo many times i was wondering when this was going to happen to me...

oh dookie!!

i put on my sk6 and 3 boots in a row the board thought it wa a 1.3ghz when its 1.2ghz... hmmm and the temp was really hot! right now its uderclocked at 800mhz with 1.5v and the idle is finally going down under idle...using cpucool

ive heard of temps going up before after chipping the core.. but how do i get back down again??? i don't wanna run my chip underclocked.. i like it runnin 1.4ghz :-)

man its still running extremely HOT! i remounted my heatsink 3 times now! im currently runnin 933mhz once got done booting into 98 MBM said 45C DANG! thats very hot i never ever hit that before running 1.4ghz with 1.95v the highest i ever hit was 39C that was after running prime 95 for 12hrs... i don't like this one bit.. is their any way to fix this?? or will i forever be stuck running this chip waaay underclocked and very little voltage just so i don't burn it up??

if/now that i need a new chip what should i get?? i got....$100 to spend on a new chip tho that is all my dough that i have until..the 18th... 1.2tbird? or 1.2morgan? or try for a 1.4tbird with unkown stepping..?

Have you cleaned the core and heat sink thoroughly ? There may be debris from the chip. Have alook at that area with a magnifying glass as it my be causing the HSF not to seat properly.

okay i wiped the HS and chip with a Q-tip and then blew them off.. now only 43C full load at stock voltage 1.75v and speed 1.2ghz... but thats still awfully hot!

I recently did the same thing to my 1 gig Duron setting the fridge cooled HS. I freaked out and pulled the water cooling rig off and (gag) had chipped the leading edge one of the short ones FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER! I knew it was junk! But I cleaned everything carefully and rebooted it worked it even ran hot for a while and then seemed to settle down. It does act weird now it'll spike high heat running some applications and locks up once and a while. Thank god it's a back up processor. Hope it works out for ya.
