How important is it for me to wait for the Gigabyte 8500 radeon to come out?

I'm building a new system and need to order the rest of my parts... one being the graphics card.... so i don't have a lot of time to wait... any suggestions or just go ahead with the Retail ATI Radeon 8500?

Why would you want anything but the ATI original? ATI is great. I would have bought the ATI version, but due to huge demand it is very hard to find around here(sweden). So I bought the Point of View version instead.

Henry.

The Gigabyte Radeon 8500 is a better video card on paper.

Faster memory and full Hardware monitoring. Why would you want to buy a 8500 with slower ram and no hardware monitoring ie the Built By Ati model.

Gigabyte if priced the same as the Built By Ati retail version makes the choice easy in my mind.

Yes the Gigabyte 8500 is worth waiting for. For all the reasons SSS mentioned. I have personally decided to wait for it to come also.

But you guys don't understand.... I'm building my new PC like this weekend....

My old system is going to my GF... i can't temporarily use the graphics card... so i purchased the retail of the Radeon 8500.

Maybe i can sell it on ebay or something when the gigabyte comes out.

not to bash the radeon, (i am using one now!) ...but there is a reason to wait.... and its not for the gigabyte radeon its for the Geforce4 ....it will be here soon, pick up a MSI TNT2 M64 for like 30 bucks shipped until then.... :D

if you already bought an ATI retail version, all youre missing out on is a little red pcb dye, and hardware monitroing...

I would say a retail 8500 would do fine, as Funnyperson1 said some pcb dye and hardware monitoring is what you would miss out on.

But dam that Gigabyte card is sweet, If you could find a really cheap used card to tie you over then I would consider the Gigabyte 8500.
