So I grabbed an EEE 1000 and I'm loving it so far. Messing around and getting Ubuntu to work on it has been fun and I'm pretty far along. I have been wondering about underclocking it though, it has to be possible but I have yet to figure out how. As far as I can tell the Super-Hybrid-Engine only applies to a windows installation. But I want it for linux! It appears that Asus isn't ready with a driver support section for the Linux 1000 yet... hmmm.

What can I do to get underclocking on this thing?

Is there a point to underclocking a CPU that draws so little power? We're talking about a CPU that draws 2.5w at load.

Underclocking an Atom will maybe get you a few minuets of battery time at best. Turn off things like your wifi, bluetooth... and other USB devices, that will help alot more.
