I had to buy the 1700+ from newegg.com since they are sold out of the 1600+, and with free shipping on the 1700+ the price it would have cost to get a 1600+ elsewhere wasn't worth it.
I heard the 1600+ was the best overclocker... can i get better ovreclocking with the 1700+? or did i make a mistake?

Although the XP chips haven't been out that long to really tell how good the o/c's are. ( the jury is still out) I would have to say no, you didn't make a mistake.
Is it better than your last cpu? An upgrade is an upgrade.
I have seen about 5-10% gains on average. Right now I have a 9% gain over my last setup. Not the best, but hey, it works for me.
Good Luck.

I am relatively new at this but I am getting my xp1700 to run at 1680 (12 x 140@1.85V). I havent been able to actually break 1700, which was my goal, but I have exceeded the stock speed of the XP2000+
1500 may actually be a better overclocker than 1600, hey they are all built on the same core...
I bet all of them pretty much max out at the same top speed if AMD marks any of the chips by demand rather than speed binning all of them...

i was ordering from new egg as well and had to go with the 1700. i'm sure i'll be happy with it. check out the cpu database on the home page. looks pretty good to me:D
you choose AMD so you can't go wrong! no the 1700 is probably going to be the best bargain overclocker. I would have gone with the 1500 for under 100 but I am a llama.
I was also going to suggest the Data base.
